6 Months Old

I seriously cannot believe Carter is 6 months old (as of April 30th)!!!  Where has the time gone?!?  It's amazing how one little guy has completely changed our lives.  Every day brings new discoveries for our little Carter, and we too are learning what it's like to be parents.  It seems like in the last few weeks Carter keeps picking up new tricks.  He can now sit up on his own (when he wants to) and roll from tummy to back and back to tummy.  Actually he started to doing multiple rolls in a row.  We call him our little rollie pollie.  Also, he loves to talk.  Sometimes his talking consists of screaming and screeching and just loud noises.  My favorite, though, is his soft voice he uses when he coos.  It's the sweetest sound.  In addition, Carter enjoys playing peek-a-boo, kicking his legs, chewing on his toes, singing songs, sucking his toys, and playing with his toys.  He loves bright lights and sounds and holding objects in his hands.  As of the last week, I have noticed that he is more aware of other babies and kids.  He will smile and "talk" back them.  I love this stage!

 Carter also has quite the little personality.  When he's mad he'll let you know!  That kid has a good set of lungs.  I joke that he already knows how to throw a temper tantrum.  If he's lying down and doesn't like something he will raise both legs up in the air and begin banging them down back and forth.  But he is also a sweet boy and makes us laugh daily.  When daddy comes home he lights up and squeals.  He is very alert and loves to be part of the party.  He will fight sleep because he thinks he is going to miss out on something.  Carter is a little people watcher.  He likes to take everything in.  He can lie on the floor and entertain himself by rolling, kicking, and talking to his best friend, the fan.

What?!?!  You don't say!

Well we took Carter to his six month well visit on the 30th.  Prior to the visit Kurt and I could tell that Carter had gone through a growth spurt, because he sits taller in his car seat now.  At his visit he measured at 27 in. in length (75% percentile) which was quite a big jump for him, 42 in. in head circumference (40% percentile), and weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds 12 oz (2% percentile).  This kid just doesn't gain weight very quickly.  Despite the slow weight gain, the doctor reported that he is healthy and looks good.  He also gave us the go ahead to begin solids. (More about that in a different post.)
 
We are having so much fun with Carter these days.  I wish I could pause time and keep our baby boy this little for awhile.
