Baptismal Weekend

Carter's baptismal weekend was so wonderful!  We are truly blessed by all the people who traveled here to be a part of the event.

Carter was baptized on Sunday, April 7th, but our guests began arriving the Wednesday before.  Our first visitors were Papa and Gigi.  They came a little early to have some one-on-one time with Carter, as well as help us prepare for the big weekend.  The next group of visitors arrived Friday.  Grammie and Grandpa Jack flew in early Friday morning, Mark, Cheryl, Roman, and Sarah arrived that afternoon, Brent, Melanie, and Jude pulled in around 10 that evening, and then last but not least Godfather Matt and Ellie arrived to Houston at midnight.  (I was the lucky one that got to pick them up. :) )  Needless to say, Friday was a busy day catching up with all our visitors.  Funny story.  When Roe and Sarah arrived at our house they did not seem to interested in their little cousin.  Then out of nowhere Roman wanted to hold Carter.  He sat on the couch, we placed Carter in his lap, and Roe hugged his arms around him.  Pretty adorable!  Then at one point I was playing/wrestling with Sarah on the floor.  Well I guess Roman thought that look more exciting then holding a baby, because very calmly and carefully he set Carter down on the couch so that he could join in the fun.  I think all the adults were stunned for a moment, but found it quite humorous.  Hey can you blame him?  That evening we went out to dinner with Papa, Gigi, Grammie, and Grandpa Jack for some seafood.  Yum!

Saturday morning we had Jude and Carter playing with each other.  Actually Jude was crawling around making circles around Carter.  It was pretty sweet to see these two cousins together.  I have a feeling when they are older they will be conspiring against their parents.  That day we had some more visitors, Grandma and Godmother Erin.  They arrived to the house and joined in with all the festivities.  The weather was perfect.  We had bags in the backyard and the kids were out playing soccer.  It was just so nice to have so much family with us.  That evening the Hoeman's grilled out and ate some crawfish. We enjoyed each other's company with games and lots of laughter.

Sunday was the big Baptismal day.  There were lots of people helping that morning to prepare for the day's events.  I love how the Hoeman's take over the kitchen!  Baptism began at 3:00 pm.  Carter wore a family gown.  It is the same gown that Kurt and his siblings were baptized in, as well as his Grandma and her brothers and cousin Jude and big brother William.  We chose Uncle Matt and Aunt Erin as Carter's Godparents.  Carter did pretty well during the ceremony.  He was little a tired and hungry at the beginning, but we gave him a bottle and he fell asleep.  Of course during the pouring of the water he awoke with cries, but then quickly fell back asleep.

After the ceremony we had dinner for all of our out of town guests and Houston friends.  The company and food was excellent!    The highlights for all the little kids were the presents and cake!  There were four little ones and luckily enough presents for each child to open to.  It was so funny.  One of the little girls kept saying "When is it my turn to open a present?" or "I wonder what my present will be?"  Roman kinda just looked at the little girl and very politely tried to explain to the little girl, "The presents are actually for baby Carter."  I love how he is protective of his little cousin.

That weekend was the best!  We feel so blessed to have had so many people share in this special day!

5 Months Old & Easter

So this post is a little late, but better late than never.  It amazes me how much Carter has changed when I look back at his newborn and one month photos.  Kurt and I were just saying to each other that we know he is growing and changing but we don't really realize it until we compare him to pictures of when he was a newborn.

Also, we had a wonderful Easter with our little guy.  The Easter Bunny dropped by to leave Carter a basket with some books, pacifiers, and candy.  Carter was such a sweet boy and decided to share his candy with mommy and daddy.  We went to Easter Mass and celebrated with 2,000 of our closest friends.  There were over a 100 of us standing in the front lobby alone.  It was pure craziness!  The most ridiculous part was the traffic to get in and out of the church grounds.  It took over 30 minutes to get both in and out.  Oh well, we survived.  The rest of the day we spent at home hanging out, playing with Carter, and watching a movie.  What a perfect day.  Happy Easter!
